Flow Traders is looking for an experienced Rust Software Engineer to join our growing Digital Assets Technology team in Amsterdam. This is a unique opportunity to work at a leading proprietary trading firm with an entrepreneurial and innovative culture. What you will do

  • Work closely with trading desks to develop scalable and low-latency solutions for on chain Trading
  • Build and maintain high-performance, real-time trading systems—Rust is central to our on chain trading infrastructure    
  • Contribute to event-driven architectures and distributed systems handling large volumes of streaming data
  • Contribute to our DEX trading infrastructure, including smart contracts, indexers, and protocol integrations
  • Ensure high availability, low-latency, and robust security of back-end systems
  • Work with Quant Researchers, Traders, and other Engineers to identify and implement automation and acceleration strategies for the Digital Assets desk
  • Follow best practices in software engineering, supported by an exceptional working environment, modern tooling, and cross-team collaboration

What you need to succeed

  • BSc, MSc, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of commercial experience in software development
  • Strong proficiency in Rust—this is our core language for our on chain infrastructure
  • Solid knowledge of back-end architecture, including distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven designs
  • Experience with performance tuning, concurrency, and low-latency applications
  • Familiarity with infrastructure tools and environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Bonus points for experience with:
    • Blockchain/DeFi development (protocol interactions, smart contracts in Solidity or Rust, MEV, liquidity management)
    • Web3 tools and concepts: nodes, consensus mechanisms (PoW, PoS), on-chain data analysis
  • Strong grasp of security best practices (API security, key management, transaction signing)
  • Prior experience in trading or high-performance financial systems is a strong plus
